The internet is quite a new experience for human beings. How would you describe what the internet actually is, what the internet should be in your opinion, and eventually how we can reach that situation in which the internet is again a place of hope for all people interested in creating a better world? Geert Lovink : The internet term has a military background. It is definitely a product of the Cold War, in that sense it is born out of the rubble of World War II.
